In the sweltering summer heat, some treats are filled with the flavor of sweet victory, while others are bitten by the bitter sting of defeat. But in the callous world of candy attrition called Summer Snackdown, only one morsel of packaged goodness can reign supreme. It began as exhibition; a cordial difference of opinion about the virtues of nougat over nuts, a casual dialogue pitting cookie against caramel, but soon tensions grew and tempers flared. These matters could not simply be left to good-natured diplomacy. The Snackdown Committee laid the ground rules, and the battles commenced. In the end, it was the seductive, yet simple lure of peanut butter, cupped in chocolate that captured the taste buds of the constituents. The verdict was absolute – Reese’s swept the sweets. The results:
Summer Snackdown I: Favorite Candy

The flames slowly cooled in the days that followed Snackdown I, but a Vesuvian gurgle suggested new conflict on the horizon. Visions began consuming the constituents – visions of epic struggles bestrewn with grease and condiments, settled in booths and car seats. Again the Snackdown Committee gathered, and soon the framework was laid for a contest of unprecedented magnitude. The gates were opened, and one by one, titans fell. Franchise signatures went bun to bun and bite to bite, in a push to claim the final prize. Through rounds of looming controversy and often raging protest, it was a bite-sized battalion of breaded bird meat that conquered the competition. The crowd was torn, but the decision was final – McNuggets were first in the fast.

I still can’t believe the results of Snackdown II: Electric Bugaloo. How in the hell did the finals become sausage mcmuffin vs. mcnuggets? That’s shameful.
